ZIPproduct Manager Download

The ZIPproduct Manager provides the ability to obtain your CCH database monthly product updates quickly and easily.

Follow the steps below to download and install CCH ZIPproduct Manager.

Note: Before you begin, please print the download and installation instructions so that you can refer to them throughout the installation. To print the instructions, click anywhere on this page and then click your browser's Print button.

System requirements:

  • 486 processor or higher (Pentium 166 MHz processor or higher recommended)
  • Microsoft Windows® 95 or later operating system, or Microsoft Windows NT® operating system version 4.0 service pack 3 or later (service pack 4 recommended), Windows XP Professional (SP2 or later), Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate, Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise
  • 16MB RAM or higher
  • 8 MB of available hard disk space
  • 50 MB of available hard disk space recommended for the download of tax data files from the Internet
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher (32-bit or 64-bit), or Netscape version 4.08 or higher
  • 50 MB disk space recommended for the temporary Internet files (cache) folder
  • Internet access
  • VGA or higher-resolution monitor

Download instructions:

  • Click on the zipmgr.exe link below.
  • If a File Download dialog box appears, make sure Save this program to disk is selected, and click the OK button. If a File Download dialog box does not appear, go to the next step.
  • In the Save As dialog box, select a directory location to save the file and click on the Save button. Note the directory location for later reference.
  • The file will download to your hard drive. If a message box appears telling you the download is complete, click the OK button.
  • Exit your browser and close all programs.

Installation instructions:

  • Open Windows Explorer and locate zipmgr.exe in the directory where you saved it.
  • Double-click on zipmgr.exe to start the installation.

     Note:

For Windows Vista Users, if you have the User Access Control feature turned on, you will be prompted by the operating system to grant the program permission to proceed.

  • Click OK on “Do you have full administrative rights?” message
  • The InstallShield Wizard will initialize. Click on the Next button to proceed with the installation.
  • Click on the Yes button to accept the terms of the license agreement and to proceed with the installation.
  • In the "Choose Destination Location" dialog, select a path for the software and click the Next button.
  • Click on Finish after installation is complete. Note: You may be prompted to reboot the workstation to ensure that all settings for CCH ZIPproduct Manager are complete.
  • Launch the ZIPproduct Manager and set up the download information for your CCH DPC product(s)
  • Notes:  
  • If you are a Vista user and User Access Control is turned on, or a Windows 7 or a Windows 8 user then you might encounter a “Cannot write data to disk. There has been a sharing violation. The destination file may be in use” message. You might also encounter “Auto Update” message. To eliminate this, you need to do the following:
    • Vista user -

§         1) Browse to Windows folder

§         2) Click on “Compatibility Files”

§         3) Find “cchzipp.ini.new” file

§         4) Rename it to “cchzipp.ini” file

§         5) Move the renamed “cchzipp.ini” file to the root of Windows folder

§         6) Confirm the override

 

    • Windows 7 & 8 users –

§         1) Right – click on ZIPproduct manager icon on the desktop and go to Properties

§         2) Click on the “Compatibility” tab

§         3) Check off “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”

§         4) Select ‘Windows XP (Service Pack 3)” from the drop down menu

 

Windows 8 users may also encounter the following error when trying to install from the executable downloaded and ‘saved’ (to run later) from the internet:

 

“Administrator has blocked this file”

 

Please do the following:

 

§         1) Right – click on ZIPproduct manager .exe file on the desktop (or wherever it was saved)  and go to Properties

§         2) Click on the “General” tab

§         3) Click on the ‘Unblock’ option

§         4) Click Apply

 

The installer should run after this.

 

·   You are now prepared to download data whenever you receive the next e-mail notification that an update is ready. It’s possible to encounter an ODBC driver error. To eliminate that, then you need to click on the vfpodbc.msi link below to install “Microsoft Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver”.  

 

Windows 7 & and above users: We strongly suggest downloading and installing the vfpodbc.msi after installing the ZIPproduct manager to avoid any further issues.

Any further installation issues might be due to Fire Wall settings.
