| <back 11-06-2007 Senate Passes AMT Relief without Offsets On December 6, 2007, by a vote of 88 to 5, the Senate approved a one-year AMT patch without offsets. An effort earlier in the day to pass a cloture vote on the House-passed version of the AMT legislation (HR 3996) had fallen short. Democratic leadership in the House appeared to be still insisting that AMT relief be paid for. Senator Grassley indicated that action on other extenders legislation included in the House-passed version might have to wait until 2008. |
