| <back 05-10-2007 House Again Passes Small Business Tax Relief Fresh from a failure to override the President's veto of the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Health, and Iraq Accountability Act, 2007 (HR 1591), the House on May 10 approved the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Bill, 2007 (HR 2206) by a vote of 221 to 205. The legislation would provide temporary funding for the Iraq war and also includes the same minimum wage and $4.8 billion package of tax provisions included in the prior war supplemental legislation. The President also issued a veto threat as to this legislation, stating that the war funding was too short term. It was not immediately clear what approach the Senate would take to the legislation |
