President Signs Further Highway Funding Extension

With a compromise agreement on highway funding legislation still not finalized, Congress passed and the President signed an additional three-week extension of current funding to July 19, 2005 (Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2005, Part II; P.L. 109-20, HR 3104). Reports out of the conference committee on the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Bill (HR 3) indicate that progress is being made, and that optimism is reflected in the shorter extension period.
