With the House and Senate having adjourned for the August recess without resolving differences between the House and Senate versions of highway funding reauthorization legislation, Congress passed and the President signed, on July 30, 2004, another version of the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2004, this one extending current highway funding to September 24, 2004 and current transit and safety funding to September 30, 2004.
