Following topics of interest: Tax Tracker NewsSM

To help you follow topics of interest in the news, the Tax Tracker News feature automatically searches the news every day and locates articles related to your topics so you can always follow your topics through the news.

You simply add a search on the Add Tracker Searches tab within Preferences or on the Tax Tracker News tab. Tax Tracker News will then run your search every day, gathering all the news on your topic. You can access your Tax Tracker News results on the Tax Tracker News tab, from your daily email (if you choose to receive one), and on the My CCH tab.

To add a Tax Tracker News search:

• Click the Preferences link on the navigation bar or the Set up Tax Tracker searches link on your My CCH tab under, "Today's Tax Tracker News." You can also add a Tax Tracker News search from the News Tab using the Add Tax Tracker News Topics link.

• Click the Add Tracker Searches tab.

• Scroll down to view subject areas you wish to track.  Underneath the Narrow by topics heading, click checkboxes for the specific topics you wish to track. You can also click the Select All checkbox to track all topics within the subject area.

• Click Narrow with Search options if you wish to set specific search options for your Tax Tracker News search. Then select any or all the optional criteria:

• Custom search terms—Select this option to find only news documents from your chosen topics that include the custom search terms you added.

If you do not include custom search terms in your Tax Tracker News search, all the news documents from your chosen topics will appear in your results.

• Search Method—Click the down arrow and select an item from the list. See also Choosing a Search Method.

• Max. Nbr. Documents Returned—Select the maximum number of documents you want each Tax Tracker News search to return.

• Automatically apply thesaurus—Select whether to apply the thesaurus to your Tax Tracker News search terms.

• Click Add to the left of the Tax Tracker News search you are adding.

• To save your search, click OK. To name and save your search, click OK. Your Tax Tracker News search will be added.

To view today’s Tax Tracker News results:

Your daily Tax Tracker News results get posted to your My CCH tab, in your daily email, if you choose to receive one, and on your Tax Tracker News tab. You will see the number of hits each search received on your My CCH Tab.

• To view the Tax Tracker News results, click the search name.

• In your email, click the headline links to go directly to the full text of the article.

• Your Tax Tracker News tab will list the results from all your Tax Tracker News searches. Just click the title to view the item.
