If you install CCH@Hand, the CCH@Hand
Browser Toolbar will replace the TRN Express Toolbar. You may choose not
to install CCH@Hand and continue to use the TRN Express Toolbar for as
long as it is supported by CCH. Refer to the instructions in this topic
if you are continuing to use the TRN Express Toolbar. For more information
about CCH@Hand and the minimum system requirements required to run it,
contact your CCH sales representative.

The TRN Express Toolbar searches publications you have added as Favorites on your My CCH page. To add Favorite publications to your My CCH page:
Log in to Tax Research Network by clicking on the TRN Express button on your toolbar.
To add publications individually, click on a library
tab and then click on the CCH
logo next to a desired publication. 
To add an entire library section, click on a library
tab and then click the CCH
logo in the blue section head. 
TRN Express login button — Clicking on this button will log you directly in to your customized Tax Research NetWork.
TRN Express Menu button — Clicking on the down arrow next to the TRN Express logo will show you many helpful tools and resources available to you as a subscriber to Tax Research NetWork.
Search My CCH — Search your favorite publications on My CCH. Type terms in the template or select terms from any web page to search.
Find by Citation — Locate a document using its citation number. Type in the citation number on the toolbar or select a citation from any web and click the Find by Citation button to find it. For additional citation templates, click the down arrow next to the button.
Libraries — Log in directly to any CCH Tax Research NetWork library.
News — Launch your customized Tax Tracker News page.

You can log in to Tax Research NetWork with a single click on the TRN Express Toolbar. Please note, however, that performing any action on the TRN Express Toolbar (e.g., search, citation search) also logs you in automatically.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click TRN Express.
A new browser window opens, and you are logged in to Tax Research NetWork automatically.
I'm trying to search using the Search My CCH but when I try to conduct the search I received a message that I need to set up my favorite publications first. How do I do this?
Before you can use Search My CCH on the TRN Express Toolbar you need to set up your favorite publications within Tax Research NetWork. You can add publications individually or by an entire section. Here's how:
Log in to Tax Research Network by clicking on the TRN Express button on your toolbar.
To add publications individually, click on a library tab and then click on the CCH logo next to a desired publication.
To add an entire library section, click on a library tab and then click the CCH logo in the blue section head.
I read that you can select citation numbers to locate on Tax Research NetWork. How do I do this?
All you need to do is click on the screen, select the entire citation — including the citation format and the citation number, (e.g., IRC Sec. 401k) — and then click the Find by Citation button. The document will then appear on your screen.
The Find by Citation
field will remain empty if you select a citation to locate from a web
page.
You can also search your My CCH Favorite Publications just by highlighting text you see and then clicking the Search My CCH button.
I just want to log into the Federal Tax library tab. Is there a way to go directly there?
Sure. Just click on the Libraries button and select Federal Tax Library. You'll automatically be logged in to Tax Research NetWork, and you'll land on the Federal Tax library.
During my last research session, I saved a number of key documents for my research to a Research Folder. Can I go directly there from the toolbar so I can resume my research on these documents?
Click on the Research Folders link on the toolbar and you'll automatically be logged in to the Research Folders selection page where you can select the Research Folder you just added your research documents.
When I was installing the toolbar, I did not enter my Tax Research NetWork ID and password. Is there a place I can enter it once I have installed the toolbar?
You can enter or change your password at anytime. On the TRN Express Toolbar, click on the down arrow next to TRN Express and select TRN Express Options. Type in your Tax Research NetWork User ID and password and click OK.
I'm really interested in the daily tax news. Is there a way to go straight to the news from the toolbar?
TRN Express allows you to instantly access your Tax Tracker News Web page. Just click the News button the toolbar and you'll be taken right to your Tax Tracker News page.
There are other places on CCH's website that I use frequently, like the Message Board. Are there links to those sites from the toolbar?

What are the requirements to run the TRN Express Toolbar?
Here are the system requirements for installing the TRN Express Toolbar:
Microsoft Windows 98/NT/2000/XP
Microsoft Explorer Internet version 5.0 or later
I'm using the Netscape browser and I'm not seeing the TRN Express Toolbar. Why?
The toolbar is supported for the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser version 5.0 or later. The toolbar is not supported for users with Netscape or other browsers.
Why do I get a security warning when I start installing the CCH TRN Express toolbar?
You may see a security message when you install the CCH TRN Express toolbar (see below for a sample of this message). If you see this message, be assured that there are no security issues with installing the CCH TRN Express toolbar.
This message appears because we are using version 1.2 of Microsofts Installer to install the toolbar on your computer. If we had used version 2.0, the size of the install program would have increased significantly, making installation of the toolbar take much longer.
Click Yes to continue the installation.

I installed the TRN Express Toolbar and I can't find it?
Depending on your Microsoft Internet Explorer settings you may not be able to see the toolbar upon installation. If you cannot see the toolbar after installation, follow the steps below.
In Internet Explorer, click the View menu, click Toolbars, and then click TRN Express Toolbar.
Add a checkmark next to the toolbar.
How do I uninstall the TRN Express Toolbar?
You can uninstall TRN Express at any time. Uninstalling completely removes TRN Express from your computer. If you just want to hide the TRN Express Toolbar, you can do this without uninstalling TRN Express. For more information, see Hiding/Showing the TRN Express Toolbar.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click the down arrow next to TRN Express.
Select Uninstall TRN Toolbar.
Follow the onscreen prompts.
I'm at 800 x 600 screen display, and it looks like some of the TRN Express toolbar buttons are missing?
You will need to select the Show Icons Only view.
To do this:
Click the down arrow next to the TRN Express logo and select TRN Express Options.
Under "Toolbar Text," click the Show Icons Only radio button.
Click OK.
How do I...
You can log in to Tax Research NetWork with a single click on the TRN Express Toolbar.
To automatically log in to Tax Research NetWork:
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click TRN Express.
A new browser window opens, and you are logged in to Tax Research NetWork automatically.
If you did not enter your Tax Research NetWork
User ID and password during installation of the TRN
Express Toolbar, you will be prompted to enter this information manually.
To set up this information so that you can use the instant login
feature, please see Setting
TRN Express
options.
If you have favorite publications saved on the My CCH tab on Tax Research NetWork, you can search those publications right from the TRN Express Toolbar. You can search by typing in your own keywords, or you can highlight text on a Web page and automatically search for that text.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, type your search terms in the box to the left of Search My CCH.
Press <ENTER> or click Search My CCH to run the search.
You will automatically be logged and your search will be run on your My CCH Favorite Publications. Your search results will appear on your screen.
Use your mouse to highlight the text you want to use for your search.
Click Search My CCH.
The highlighted text is automatically pasted into the Search box on the toolbar, you are logged in (if necessary), and your search is run in all the publications you've saved on My CCH.
Your search is run using the settings you have saved in your Tax Research NetWork preferences. For example, if you've set a preference to use the Boolean search method for all searches, you will be able to perform a Boolean search right from the TRN Express Toolbar. If you haven't set any search preferences, your search will be run using the default Tax Research NetWork search settings.
The default search is an All Terms search, meaning that Tax Research NetWork will look for documents that contain all the terms you type in the Search box. For more information about setting search preferences, see Setting your search preferences.
Don't have any favorite publications
saved on the My CCH tab? You can quickly add a publication to My CCH just
by clicking the CCH logo next to the publication. For more information,
see Setting up and using My CCH Desktop Favorites.
When you know a document's number or citation, you can use the TRN Express Toolbar to quickly find the document. If you know the complete citation (e.g., IRC Sec. 401(k)), you can type it directly into the Citation Search box on the toolbar. If you know just the number and are not sure of the correct citation format, you can use the Citation Search template to build your search using the correct citation format. The Citation Search template lists the most popular formats.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, type the complete citation including the citation format in the box to the left of Find by Citation.
Click Find by Citation to run the search.
You will be logged in and your results will appear onscreen.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click Find by Citation.
In the Citation Search template, double-click the publication that contains the document you're looking for. Note: Only the most popular publications are listed.
Type the citation number in the box at the bottom of the template.
Click OK.
You will be logged in and your results will appear onscreen.
Use your mouse to highlight the entire citation you want to locate in Tax Research NetWork.
Click Find by Citation.
The highlighted text is automatically pasted into the Find by Citation box on the toolbar, you are logged in, and your results will appear onscreen.
With TRN Express, you can log in and go right to the top of a specific library tab on Tax Research NetWork.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click Libraries and select a library.
You can log in only to libraries to which
you subscribe.
You will be logged in and taken right to the library you selected.
TRN Express allows you to instantly access your Tax Tracker News Web page.
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click News.
You will be logged in and taken right to your Tax Tracker News page.
Remember! When you have finished
reading your news, you can go right to Tax Research NetWork
by clicking the TAX RESEARCH NETWORK button at the top of your
news page.
TRN Express allows you to go right to documents you saved in your Research Folders.
To go directly to your Research Folders:
On the TRN Express Toolbar, click Research Folders.
You will be logged in and taken right to your Research Folders.

To set TRN Express options:

In the Current Password field, type your current password.
In the New Password field, type a new password. Then confirm the new password by typing it in the Confirm Password field.
Select Text and Images or Images Only.
Click OK to save your settings.
