When you are viewing a document, you can easily identify the type of document you are looking at. Each document contains a document type label in the title of the document. For example, CCH-EXP is a CCH Explanation, CCH-ANNO is a CCH Annotation, PROP-REG is a Proposed Regulation, and IRC is the Internal Revenue Code.
