About the Authors
John O. Everett, Ph.D., CPA, is a Professor of Accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. John began his career as an IRS agent, and he has served as a speaker and instructor for numerous professional education programs, including the national training courses of Ernst & Young and McGladrey & Pullen.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University, he has authored or coauthored a number of articles in academic and professional journals, including The Journal of the American Taxation Association, Journal of Legal Tax Research, Accounting Horizons, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, Advances in Accounting, The Journal of Accountancy, The CPA Journal, The Journal of Taxation, Taxes, Tax Notes, and The Tax Adviser.

John is the coauthor of several books, including Tax Point with Cherie Hennig, the first interactive tax textbook on the Web, and CCH's Practical Guide to Schedule M-3 Compliance with Cherie Hennig and William Raabe, a comprehensive reference source.

John is an active member of the American Taxation Association and the American Accounting Association. John was recently selected as the Ray M. Sommerfeld Tax Educator of the Year, and is a previous recipient of the American Taxation Association Outstanding Service Award.

 

Cherie J. Hennig, Ph.D., M.B.A., began her career as an IRS Revenue Agent in Denver, CO. She has taught undergraduate and graduate tax courses at Florida International University, Colorado State University, the University of South Florida, and Virginia Tech. She has published articles in leading tax journals, co-authored two tax texts and written and taught numerous continuing professional education courses.

Cherie's articles have appeared in such journals as The National Tax Journal, The Journal of the American Taxation Association, Advances in Taxation, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Legal Tax Research, Journal of Accountancy, Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research, Tax Notes, Accounting Horizons, Journal of Taxation, Taxes, Journal of International Taxation, and The Tax Adviser.

She is a member of the American Taxation Association, the American Institute of CPAs, and the National Association of Tax Professionals.

She co-authored with John Everett and William Raabe the text, Practical Guide to Schedule M-3 Compliance published by CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business. Cherie also coauthored with John Everett, Tax Point, the first interactive tax textbook on the Web. She has taught numerous CPE courses for the Executive Enterprise Institute and other professional organizations on Schedule M-3 Compliance.

Cherie received the American Taxation Association, 2007 Outstanding Service viii CCH Contemporary Practice: Research, Planning & Strategy Award. She is a member of the Tax Executive Committee of the AICPA and serves on the Editorial Board of the ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
Nancy Nichols, Ph.D., CPA, is an Associate Professor and the Journal of Accounting Education Research Professor at James Madison University. She also serves as the Director of the Masters in Accounting program. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D. at the University of North Texas, Nancy was a tax partner at Deloitte and Touche. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in taxation.

With primary research interests in the areas of taxation and segment reporting, she has published numerous articles in such journals as the Journal of the American Taxation Association, Journal of Legal Tax Research, Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accountancy, The CPA Journal, Tax Notes, and Journal of Taxation.

Nancy is an active member of American Taxation Association and serves on the Editorial Board of the ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research.
