About the authors
Sidney Kess, CPA and attorney, is a nationally recognized tax authority who has been one of the top national leaders and authors in tax planning and education for more than 40 years. Through his long association with the AICPA's "Individual Income Tax Returns Workshop," "Corporate Tax Returns Workshop," and other programs, he has presented update, training and education programs to tens of thousands of tax planners and preparers across the country. In conjunction with CCH, he is the co-author/developer of several classic texts and subscription services, such as "1040 Preparation," "Financial and Estate Planning Guide," Financial and Estate Planning Reporter," "Business Strategies Guide" and numerous other products including dozens of CPE programs.
Barbara Weltman, an attorney, has written extensively on a wide variety of tax and financial planning matters for both professionals and the general public. A frequent collaborator with Sid Kess, she is also one of the top tax authors for consumers, business owners and entrepreneurs.
She is the co-author with Sid Kess of CCH's "1040 Preparation," "Retirement Planning Guide," and dozens of CCH CPE courses and publications. She is also the author of several books for J.K. Lasser, including "J.K. Lasser's 1,001 Deductions and Tax Breaks" and "Financial Planning for CPAs."
Perry M. Henderson, CPA, MPA has more than 28 years of experience in accounting. For the last 15 years, he has been a sole practitioner providing audit and accounting services to nonprofit organizations, municipal governments, and privately held businesses. He has performed peer reviews of nearly 300 accounting firms and currently serves on the Peer Review Committee of the California Society of CPAs. He has contributed material to several of the publications in the Miller Series and to various publications of the AICPA and the California Society of CPAs.
Mr. Henderson holds a bachelor’s degree from Claremont McKenna College and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma and has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Redlands. He is a member of the SEC Practice Section of the AICPA and of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
John C. Healy, MST, CPA, is a lecturer in the graduate tax programs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the managing director of the Deloitte & Touche Center for Multistate Taxation at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. His tax experience of more than 25 years includes tax management positions with Miller Brewing Company and GE Medical Systems. He is a frequent author and speaker on state and local taxation and is a past recipient of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation’s Literary Award. He is also coauthor of Aspen Publishers’ Sales Tax Answer Book.
Michael S. Schadewald, Ph.D., CPA, is on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in business taxation. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Professor Schadewald has published numerous articles in academic and professional journals, and has served on many editorial boards. He also co-authors CCH's Practical Guide to U.S. Taxation of International Transactions, and writes a column for CCH's "Journal of State Taxation." |
