Welcome to the June issue of Focus on Learning, the monthly newsletter for the CCH Learning Center that provides insights on how to use the Learning Center to your full advantage and updates on new courses and features available to you. In each issue we highlight a course (or series of courses) on a timely topic, and let you know about new courses released in the Learning Center. We also inform you of new useful features, provide helpful tips on existing features, and help you use the CCH Learning Center to meet your professional development and CPE needs.

New Learning Center Courses

CCH is committed to keeping you up-to-date and knowledgeable on the latest issues that impact your firm or corporation. Several new or revised courses have been released to the Learning Center over the past two months.  See the new or updated titles released to the Learning Center here.

Course Spotlight

Attestation Engagements Series:  These recently released courses show practitioners the most cost-effective approach for conducting several types of attestation engagements. The courses reduce the technical language of official pronouncements to easy-to-read and easy-to-understand advice and are filled with practical explanations and procedures. Designed to enhance the quality of your practice, these courses present an approach that will help you perform your attestation engagements effectively and efficiently.

Throughout the Attestation Engagement courses you will find engagement efficiency, effectiveness, and cost-saving measures to help you complete your attestation engagements profitably. The courses include numerous practice aids – checklists, questionnaires, work papers, sample correspondence, and sample reports – that will take you through an engagement from the initial evaluation of a client to issuance of the appropriate report. Titles are:.

We will release many new courses in the CCH Learning Center in the weeks and months ahead to give you even more choices and more value. Among the new and updated courses that are in development now, look for courses in the following areas soon:

Did You Know

You can easily retrieve your username for the CCH Learning Center. Has it been a while since you logged onto the Learning Center? Now that tax season is behind us, you may be ready to start earning your CPE credit for the year. Maybe you wish to use the Learning Center to meet your CPE needs or to brush up on a topic, but you can’t remember your username or password. It’s easy to retrieve both of these from the Learning Center. Learn about how to retrieve your username or password here.

Simply click on the Login tab at the top of the Learning Center. You’ll be taken to the Login box. An Email Address field is at the bottom of the box under Forget your user name or password? Enter your e-mail address into this field and click the “Send Password” button. You’re username will immediately appear at the bottom of the screen and your password will be e-mailed to shortly thereafter. If you have changed your e-mail address within the past year, you may need to enter your previous e-mail address in order to receive your user information.

It’s easy to change your password: New Learning Center subscribers are assigned a username and password. The User Info tab lets you change your password to something more meaningful to you. Learn how to change your password here

To change your password, simply click on User Info on the top right side of the Learning Center. Delete the existing password from the Password field and type in your new password. You must enter the same password in the Password Again field. Click on the Continue button on the bottom right side of your screen. It’s that easy.

 

Audio Conference: Circular 230

CCH recently added live audio conferences to its range of educational options. Each audio conference allows an unlimited number of users at your firm to get up-to-speed on a hot topic using nothing more than a telephone connection. Plus, participants can earn up to 2 CPE Credits. The next audio conference, scheduled for June 30 at 2:00 ET, provides an in-depth analysis of Circular 230 and insight on how to keep your practice safe during the uncertainty that will come with its changes. The new Treasury Department Circular 230 will make big changes in how tax professionals approach providing advice to their clients or the companies they work for. CCH’s audio conference, New Circular 230 Requirements: Compliance Tips and Insights , will familiarize you with Circular 230 and its changes. Speakers Michael G. Goller and Harvey Coustan discuss the impact of Circular 230, point out traps to be aware of and answer your questions live.
